February is for valentines, love and the heart.
February is American Heart Month!
Do you know whether your blood pressure runs high, low or somewhere in between? According to the American Heart Association, there are five numbers we all need to know:
HDL (good) cholesterol
Body mass index
You should measure your blood pressure regularly to help your health care team diagnose any health problems early. You and your health care team can take steps to control your blood pressure if it is too high. If you have not seen your primary care recently, make an appointment with your healthcare provider to check on these numbers. The results will help them determine your risk for developing cardiovascular diseases.
If you would like to check your blood pressure you won't have to travel far. I am available every Wednesday at the Hopkinton Senior Center in the nursing office from 9:00 am to 12:00 PM. Next week I will have a Hopkinton high school student with me during my regular hours. Come visit us!
